how to make your chorus sound HUGE
mixing tip #013 - how to make your chorus sound HUGE
Hallojis! This week, we’re talking about a cool lil’ trick that will help make your choruses sound bigger.
To start, you should know the word imaging. Imaging refers to how sounds are placed left-right in the stereo field.
There are plug-ins that allows you to change the stereo image of a sound (either to be more narrow or more wide). Usually these are used in the mastering process to add more width, but we’re breaking the rules a bit 🥸.
In short, you’re going to use automation to collapse your mix to mono during the build of your song, then suddenly return the mix to stereo right at the chorus. It’ll feel like everything is getting smaller and smaller, and 💥!! The chorus hits HUGE.
